College football has changed. A trip to Stillwater last Thursday left no doubt that many college football teams are struggling for identity. The transfer portal allows players to move at will with very few restrictions-that translates to a situation where few or nearly all of the players from last year’s team may not be playing on the team this year.
Holdenville’s Abe Gomez struggles to keep his balance while escaping a would be tackler. Holdenville will host a much improved Wewoka team on Friday.

The Holdenville Wolverines traveled to Antlers to participate in the first of two pre-season scrimmages. And, as always the coaches have found some things to be pleased about and some things that need improvement.
The Holdenville defense swarmed this running back in the Wolverines’ scrimmage at Antlers. Holdenville will scrimmage at Eufaula on Thursday.

Wolverine Softball Team Ends Week With a Win The Holdenville High School softball team began the week with a 0-7 indecisive game with the Morris Eagles. Morris managed to build a 7-0 lead going into the 4th Inning before lightning caused a game delay.

Wolverine Sports Seasons Start Monday Holdenville High School will open the 2025-2026 sports season this week when the Wolverine Softball team hosts Morris. Monday is also the day the Wolverine football team will begin pre-season practices for the 2025 gridiron season.
Avery Maylen is expected to see plenty of action during the Wolverine’s softball season.

All-State week was a special week for area athletes. The week began with Holdenville High School All-State basketball player, Myah Olden, putting on a stellar performance in the All-State basketball game on Tuesday.
Wolverine All-State basketball player, Myah Olden, and her Coach, Dillion Snow, posed for a picture prior to the All-Sate Game. Myah has played in 4 post season All-Star games and each time, she made everyone proud to be a Wolverine.

The 2025 fast pitch softball season is just a few weeks away and the Wolverines are working hard to be ready to host Morris on August 11. The Wolverines are led by a new coaching staff and everyone has been eager to go to work to make the 2025 season a success.
Wolverine outfielder, Raelee Johnson, was practicing her long throws during a early morning workout. Johnson is expected to be a starter in left field.

The first day of school sports seasons usually are associated with the beginning of the school year. The OSSAA sets the date for the beginning of the sports seasons and that magical date is July 15. July 15 is the date that is established for the beginning of organized practice for softball and cross country.
