Holdenville Softball team finishes third in conference The Holdenville High School softball team began the 66 Conference Tournament with an impressive 19-1 win over Okemah and came right back with a 17-2 victory over Chandler. The Wolverines were sailing along and on their way to earning the top trophy but Stroud showed why they are a top team in 4A and posted a 15-0 win over the Wolverines and sent Holdenville to the losers bracket.
Record setters! The Holdenville Wolverine softball team has set a record for the most home runs in a season! The 2021 Wolverine home run count is at 97 and it’s rising!

Holdenville to host 1971 State Champions Holdenville High school will welcome back the 1971 Wolverine state championship baseball team on April 13. The Wolverines will gather for a 50th anniversary celebration and will be honored at the home baseball game that will be played on that date.
Holdenville sprinter, Devan Tiger, hands the baton to Garren Murray in the 4x200 race at Okemah. The relay team consisting of Devon Tiger, Izaia King, Garren Murray and Eddie Jennings finished 3rd in a field of 24 schools.

Kaitlin Milligan First Woman in OU History to Qualify for Masters

AUGUSTA, Ga. – After two rounds at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, Oklahoma women’s golf senior Kaitlin Milligan made the cut and will compete in Saturday›s final round alongside the best amateurs in the world. The tournament opened with 82 golfers competing in the most elite field in women›s amateur history, and following Thursday›s round, the field was cut to 30. Those 30 will compete for one of the most coveted titles in amateur golf on Saturday afternoon.

Wolverines Excel in Spring Sports The Holdenville Wolverine spring sports teams are making some noise as the season moves into the month of April. Coach Sarah Morgan’s softball team entered the week ranked 5th in their class.
Blakeli Whiteman passes the baton to Samantha Eckles in the Wolverines’ 4x100 relay race. Holdenville won first place in the event.

Eagle Scout Upgrades Cross Country Course Brandynn Coleman is on his way to becoming an Eagle Scout! The Holdenville High School senior has completed his Eagle Scout project and is in the final stages of achieving the highest rank in scouting. Brandynn’s Eagle Scout service project will be viewed by over 1000 cross country athletes this fall and it will continue to be viewed every fall for years to come! Brandynn’s project establishes the mark that every cross country runner delights in seeing because the soon to be Eagle Scout has replaced the old finish line shoot with a state of the art finish line arch! Every runner who comes around the last curve in Holdenville’s cross country course will strive to be the first to make it to the new shiny arch that will stand at the end of their long grueling race.

Wolverines have awesome sports week The Holdenville Wolverines began the first week of March in stellar fashion! The baseball team defeated Seminole. The Wolverine weight lifters scored well at the regional weight lifting meet in Broken Bow and two members of the team will represent Holdenville High School at the state meet in El Reno! The track team earned a Wolverine share of medals at the meet in Luther! And, three young Wolverine mid-school weight lifters qualified for state.
Wolverine weight lifter Sydney Robinson placed fifth in his division at the regional meet in Broken Bow. vSydney’s combined weight total of 1215 pounds was good enough to qualify for the state meet in Eleanor!

Holdenville Girls Win District The Holdenville High School girls’ basketball team won the district championship last week by defeating the Lindsay Leopards 47-36. Holdenville’s won easily but the long lay-off caused by the icy weather and the huge gaps in scheduling due to the pandemic was apparent in the Wolverines level of play.
Holdenville senior, Leigha Phillips, has been awarded All Conference honors! The 66 Conference coaches made the selection.

Wolverines Head to Lindsay for District

If you’re a Wolverine Basketball addict, you didn’t get your basketball fix this past week but there’s hope the teams will head to Lindsay on Friday. The Wolverines were going to travel to Henryetta last Tuesday and the schedule posted a final home game with Chandler coming to town on Friday. There was even talk of a make-up game with Konawa on Monday but none of those games were played. The travel problems and an eligibility issue on behalf of one of the opponents kept the Wolverines off the basketball court.
Holdenville big man, Layton Richmond, has become a rebounding force inside. Layton and his teammates will travel to Lindsay on Friday to challenge the Leopards for the district championship.

Wolverines down Wewoka 72-61 The Holdenville High School girls’ basketball squad traveled to Wewoka and defeated the Tigers 71-62. Holdenville took command early in the contest and amassed a 19 point first quarter lead before the Tigers could get going.
