Service held for Hazel Iwana Stewart

Hazel “Iwana” Stewart passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at her home in Holdenville, Oklahoma at the age of 94.

Iwana was born August 14, 1928 in Holdenville to Hobert Carpenter and Goldie (Wade) Carpenter. Iwana graduated from Holdenville HighSchool. Iwana married Harry B. Stewart on April 2, 1949. She was a homemaker and she had worked as an operator for Southwestern Bell. Iwana enjoyed camping and fishing. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and working outside. Iwana was a member of the Faith Free Will Baptist Church in Holdenville.

Iwana is preceded in death by her parents; husband Harry Stewart; two sons, Brent Stewart and Bryan Stewart; granddaughter Kimberly Stewart; and five siblings, Russell Carpenter, Bud Carpenter, Gene Carpenter, Helen Barnett and Betty Dority.

She is survived by her son Larry Stewart and wife Beverly of Jenks; daughter Linda Sadongei and husband Dave of Holdenville; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and daughters-in-law Pam Stewart of Wewoka and Kelly Stewart of Lake Jackson, Texas. Iwana is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral service was 10:00 am, Friday, July 14, at the Faith Free Will Baptist Church with Brother Earl Scroggins officiating. Interment followed at Holdenville Cemetery Pallbearers are Christopher Stewart, Matthew Stewart, Daniel Welch, David Welch, Jared Stewart and Wyatt Stewart. Honorary pallbearers are Dylan Stewart, Staci Welch, Sarah Stewart and Amber Stewart.

Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville, Oklahoma.
