Mona Middleton
Mona C. Middleton passed from this life March 12, 2025 at Integris Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was born in 1958 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Dale and W. Jeanne Middleton, The youngest of three children. She is preceded in death by her parents Dale and Jeanne, brother Brad Middleton, niece Mary Ann Middleton, paternal grandparents Ralph and Opal Middleton, and maternal grandmother Irma Maye Troup.
Mona attended Holdenville Public Schools, graduated high school with her class in 1976. She became a multiple sports fan even before she attended grade school having been the ‘64 HHS cheerleading mascot for the Wolverines State Championship year. She was a band member in high school and a member of the OU marching band in college. It’s an understatement to say she was a passionate follower of both her hometown’s band & sports activities and her beloved Sooners!
After college and several years as an EMT for Amcare, Mona gained another family and a remarkable career as a surgical scrub tech(assistant) working for Dr’s Duffy & Baker, oral/maxillofacial surgeons. She, Dr Baker and staff worked together for approximately 35 yrs before 2 of her original colleagues/mentors retired. This close knit group not only enjoyed their work together but shared each others’ life celebrations and losses together including this one.
Mona was a lively, energetic woman of Faith, she was a licensed Lay Eucharistic Minister at St. Paul’s, with an almost childlike enthusiasm others were drawn to. A delight and friend to many. She loved passionately: animals, music, her family and friends; her work, work family, her church, church family, her hometown and its people and of course her Sooners! Mona is survived by her cherished Life Partner of 33 yrs LeAnn Vermillion, her son John (Brandy) Vermillion and her “grands” Deegan and Lily and her precious dogs, Honey and Buddy. She is also survived by her sister Lori Middleton, sis-in-law Ann, nephew Mark Middleton; first cousin Richard Morgan and countless beloved cousins (Sheros & Heroes) both maternal & paternal.
