Staring the school year off in a successful way, the sophomore class elected the above officers: Left to right, Rosemary Gentry, president; Mary Lou Tones, secretary and treasurer; and Dora Dell Sandlin, vice-president.

BMUMC announces the appointment of their new pastor, the Reverend Doctor Sarah Miller. Pastor Sarah has been an Ordained Elder in The United Methodist Church since 1996.

On July 1, 2025, OBN’s Marijuana Enforcement Teams (MET) served a Search Warrant at DJX Farms, 7675 E. 131 Rd. Holdenville, Hughes County, Oklahoma as part of an ongoing OBN MET investigation into illegal marijuana cultivation. Operators of the grow were using an OBN Registration obtained by fraud involving a ‘straw ownership’ scheme. OBN MET Agents seized 3,853 plants and 118 pounds of processed marijuana. Arrests are pending as this cases moves forward. OBN MET was assisted by the Hughes County Sheriff’s Office & Hughes County Commissioners Office. Since 2021, OBN MET Agents have shut down over 6,000 illegal marijuana farms through enforcement and/or administrative actions for grows tied to black market trafficking and obtaining an OBN Registration by fraud using ‘straw ownership’ schemes. At the end of 2022, 8,400 farms were operating with an active OBN Registration. Today, that number stands at approximately 2,100. Citizens can anonymously report criminal drug and human trafficking activity to OBN’s tip-line at 800522-8031 or sending OBN a Facebook DM.
