There are major upgrades coming to Holdenville’s infrastructure, thanks to Indian Health Services (IHS) and Muscogee Creek Nation. These two entities along with Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB), Holdenville Mayor, John Massad, Ms. Vance and Brian Mitchell, also of Parkhill are all part of the Funding Agency Coordinating Team (FACT) that has been meeting to discuss the future of Holdenville’s aging and failing water and sewer infrastructure.

A stabbing took place at Stroup Park in Holdenville last week. Here is Holdenville Police Chief Kyle Lening’s statement on the matter: On February 23, 2023 at approximately 3:30PM, Holdenville Police Officers and Hughes County Deputies responded to the report of physical altercation that took place between multiple juveniles near the basketball courts at Stroup Park. During the altercation 2 juvenile males were stabbed with a knife. Both of the injured juveniles were transported by personal vehicles to the Holdenville General Hospital where one was treated and released and the other was transported to a trauma center in Oklahoma City. The injured juveniles and eyewitnesses at the scene were able to positively identify the other parties from the incident. Hughes County Sheriff Office (HCSO) Deputies were able to apprehend the involved individual at a residence in Holdenville and bring them into custody for questioning. The Holdenville Police Department requested the assistance of the District 22 Task Force to assist with the investigation.
