A former Oklahoma governor is leading an ef-fort to defeat a proposition to legalize recreational ma-rijuana in the state. According to a press release, Frank Keating, who governed Oklahoma from 1995 – 2003, is chairman of “Protect Our Kids No 820,” a coalition of com-munity, business, and law enforcement leaders.

Talaesa Deanne Mason passed away Saturday, February 11th, 2023 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 48. Talaesa was born October 17, 1974 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Dale Ladd and Mae-ree Hunter.

Wolverines chalk up 2 wins The Holdenville Wolverine boys’ and girls’ basketball teams both put two games in the win column this past week with wins over Allen and Chandler. The victories put the boys record at 10-10 with a three game winning streak.

The stage is set for another city council election in Holdenville on April 4 of this year with nine candidates filing to run for the 5 seats which will be vacated at the time of the election. Aeric Creekmore, Ron Thetford, and Julie West have filed to run for Ward 1, David Leewright will face Tony Wulf in the Ward 2 race, Mike Dockrey is unopposed and set to take the Ward 3 seat at the Council table, as well as Don Merriman who drew no opponent for the Ward 4 seat.

Dave and Jumper Ingram were taken on a 50th anniversary vacation to Hawaii by two of their children: Russell and Tracey Ingram and children Reagan and Landon; Kelsey and T.J. Ingram and daughter Emerson. They stayed on the island of Maui for eight days and while there they took the Road to Hana tour with stops at a black sand beach for swimming, went to an authentic luau and went snorkeling. They spent a lot of time on the beach playing in the water. They also visited a lavender farm on their last day. A great time was had by all attendees. Ronnie Caudell has been appointed to fill the Ward 3 vacancy left by the resignation of Ron Wiseman. The council officially voted to accept Wiseman’s resignation just before taking up the agenda item to consider the new appointment.

Rape, sexual battery, forcible oral sodomy, and contraband charges have been filed against former Davis Correctional employee, Caitlin Brown, 39, of Wewoka after it was discovered she was engaged in a sexual relationship with a Davis Correctional inmate.

Kristy Lashbrook, 49, of Holdenville Oklahoma, was born on July 9, 1973 in Wetumka, Oklahoma to Bill and Charlotte (Hamilton) Nall. She won her final war with pain on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family after a brief battle with cancer.
