CITY-WIDE BRUSH AND LIMB SET TO BEGIN NEXT WEEK

With fall quickly approaching, many area residents are already starting to take advantage of the cooler weather to start pruning back the summer growth. Others may have dead limbs and branches from the summer storms that need to be cleaned up. Street Commissioner Jim Thetford reminds Holdenville residents that the City of Holdenville will be providing the traditional Fall curbside pickup of brush and limbs during the month of October so they can begin planning their yard work strategy.

ILLEGAL MARIJUANA GROW OPERATION UNCOVERED IN HOLDENVILLE

HOLDENVILLE, OK – An elaborate marijuana grow operation was uncovered recently, leading to multiple charges including aggravated trafficking and unlawful cultivation of marijuana. Agent Brian Bagwell, an officer with the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN), with 17 years of law enforcement experience, led the investigation.

MCGIRT FAMILY HOPES RETRIAL SUCCESSFUL

The name “McGirt” became a household word following “The McGirt Decision.” This decision was a significant legal victory for Native American rights in which the Supreme Court determined that the Indian reservations in Oklahoma were never disestablished and crimes by Native Americans on these lands falls into the jurisdiction of the tribal courts and federal judiciary instead of the state level. However, Jimcy McGirt, who had taken the case to the Supreme Court, gained little from that decision.

HOLDENVILLE 4-H STUDENTS READ AT REED ELEMENTARY

Holdenville 4H partnered with Jessica Beck~Holdenville Farm Bureau, Women’s Committee and participated in Ag In the Classrooms annual Read an Accurate Ag Book Week. 17 club members from Thomas Elementary and Holdenville Middle School traveled to Reed Elementary to “Read at Reed”! Thanks to the gen-erosity of Farm Bureau of Holdenville the 4H Club members were able to not only read “I Love Strawberries” an Accurate Ag Book but were also able to give it to the classroom they read it too.
