MAIN STREET MAULED

Body
In what the Weather Service is calling intense 80-90mph “straight-line winds”, Holdenville saw a storm Saturday night just before midnight rip through town leaving much of it in shambles. Trees and elec-tric lines blown over in nearly every section of town, leaving the community in complete darkness, with no electricity. OG&E, other utility companies, along with City of Holdenville employees rolled into town just on the heels of the storm to assess the damage and formulate a gameplan. Much of the community has already had power restored with some still to go. Many have been out the last two days helping neighbors, businesses, and friends begin to rebuild what they lost in the storm. One of the beautiful things about living in a small town is how people come together in times of tragedy. There are people working around the clock to make sure the community doesn’t stay down for long. We continue to pray for all those affected by the recent storm as we continue to find ways to help one another.
Tri-Cities Discount Beverages along with Dynamic, as well as many stores in between, were some of those most greatly affected by the storm. The winds caused much of the roof and front of the building to blow off. More pictures pages 2&3
