At their meeting last week, the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education elected real estate investor Jack Sherry of Holdenville as chairman of the board; former State Representative Dennis Casey of Morrison, vice chairman; retired Oklahoma Supreme Court Chief Justice Steven W. Taylor of McAlester, secretary; and attorney Courtney Warmington of Edmond, assistant secretary.

The Red Hatters met on August 12 at Boom-A-Rang in Holdenville. We had a really great time playing catch-up on what was happening this summer with everyone. The Red Hats from Wetumka hosted our luncheon. Dianne Bowman became our new Chaplain offering a beautiful prayer and blessing our food. Dianne won the door prize with an assortment of goodies. She loved it all. Lynn Marquis won the game prize of 4 potholders, which she shared. Our next meeting will be hosted by Sharon Dilday and Dianne Bowman. It should be a good one!

HOLDENVILLE — Back in 2021, the City of Holdenville was the fortunate recipient of a $49,000 grant courtesy of the USDA’s Rural Energy for America Program (REAP). However, due to reasons still unclear, this substantial amount went unused and seemed destined to be lost to the annals of forgotten city projects. Until now.
