Holdenville High School Alum and First National Bank & Trust Co.’s Marketing Director/AVP, Amanda Estala, has recently graduated the American Bankers Association Bank Marketing School with national honors. Estala was chosen as the Student Representative to the ABA Bank Marketing Advisory Board.

John Giles Retires from City Council

In the statement Giles explains he and his wife, Mary Lou, contracted COVID 19 in December. Due to all of the health issues caused by this virus, he believes it is in the best interest of himself, the Council, and the citizens of Holdenville for him to step down. He then offered his official resignation as Ward 3 City Councilman.

The Holdenville Society of Painters and Sculptors announces its 2021 Summer Art Program, which will be held for three weeks in June at the Art Center. Classes are limited to 15 students each. Sign up and pay to secure your spot! Scholarships are available to students who need it. Holdenville Schools provides free lunch each day. A parent or guardian must pick up their child at the end of class unless we are notified otherwise. Leave electronics at home, please!

Long--Term Care Visitation Bill Gains Senate Approval

The full Senate has given its approval to a bill aimed at ensuring longterm care facilities have a visitation plan in place in the event of future emergencies. Sen. Greg McCortney is the Senate principal author of House Bill 2566, by Rep. Chad Caldwell, R-Enid. The measure was approved on Wednesday.

Reed Elementary Maintains GE Model School Status

Principal Danielle Patterson recently learned that Reed Elementary has once again earned the prestigious designation as a Great Expectations (GE) Model School. This is the 18th year Reed has earned this impressive honor. It should be stressed that just because a school has previously earned this honor is no guarantee they will receive it again.

ECU Donates Books

Jaylea Harpole/ECU ADA – East Central University’s Linscheid Library is fulfilling its goal of serving populations that otherwise may be overlooked, most recently the Davis Correctional Facility. Linscheid Library recently donated 216 books to the library at the Holdenville-based facility.
