Grace M. Pickens Library and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church have announced sponsorship of a new book club for Hughes county, to be called “Pageturners,” which will feature works of fiction and non-fiction alike, as club members so choose. The first meeting will be held Thursday, July 21 at 6:30pm in the Library conference room.

A felony warrant was issued on June 23, 2022 for Kevin Ryan Davis, 33, of Holdenville for three counts of RAPE, FIRST DEGREE (VICTIM UNDER AGE 14), A FELONY, and two counts of FORCIBLE SODOMY. At approximately 8:30am on Friday, February 25, 2022, Holdenville Chief of Police Kristofer Green was dispatched to Holdenville General Hospital to take a report of a sexual assault.

Zac Greenlee continues his campaign to be the Republican nominee for District 1 Hughes County Commissioner. Only two votes separated Zac and his opponent, Dwight Barnett. The two men will face one another in a runoff election August 23.

Barry Wood and wife Joetta hit the campaign trail in the Calvin 4th of July Parade. Barry is running for District 1 Hughes County Commissioner and will be on the ticket November 8.
