At the latest Holdenville City Council meeting, a request from Phillip Eckles, who operates a crop-dusting business out of Holdenville Airport, was a key point of discussion. In an item of the City Council agenda, Eckles asked the council to consider a change to his current lease agreement with the Holdenville Industrial Authority, proposing that he perform repairs on the mechanic hanger in lieu of paying rent.

OKLAHOMA CITY – On Friday, August 2, Ash Dennie of Holdenville was recognized for outstanding career performance at the Oklahoma Pork Congress in Oklahoma City. Hosted by the Oklahoma Pork Council, the event brought together around 70 pork producers and supporters for meetings and the opportunity to celebrate industry leaders like Dennie.

Softball season opens Holdenville High School sports seasons get underway this week. Coach Angel Johnson’s softball team will open their season at Lexington on Monday and then travel to Lindsay on Tuesday.
Holdenville Head Coach, Angel Johnson was a bit animated when she gave this series of instructions to this group of Wolverines. Coach Johnson and her staff are constantly teaching the game of softball to their players.

Notice the bicycle rack and old-timey car out front, but it’s the movies on the marquis that helped us date this old photo. Sweet Genevieve is a 1947 American comedy film directed by Arthur Dreifuss and starring Jean Porter, Jimmy Lydon and Lucien Littlefield. It was produced by Sam Katzman for distribution by Columbia Pictures making this picture dated sometime in 1947.
