A devastating fire broke out at the Wewoka Village Apartments on Seran Drive early Thursday evening, March 19. Although no injuries were reported, multiple residents were displaced, including two male children. City leaders quickly sprang into action and organized a household item and clothing drive at the Wewoka Civic Center on Friday. Organizers were also seeking donations of bottled water, as the complex was left without water. Firefighters from Cromwell, Holdenville and Seminole joined the Wewoka Fire Department in battling the blaze. Holdenville sent a total of seven fire fighters. “Our hearts are with everyone affected by the apartment fire last night,” the City of Wewoka posted to its Facebook page. “We want you to know that your community is here for you during this difficult time.”
Seminole resident and Holdenville native, Roy Boydstun, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served during the Vietnam War, has been selected to participate in the upcoming Oklahoma Warriors Honor Flight mission to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials dedicated to those who served in the armed forces.

— A Holdenville woman was arrested early March 1 after police say she was found in possession of a stolen vehicle. According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Hughes County District Court, officers were dispatched at approximately 1:06 a.m.
