Enjoyed at the ballpark, grilled at backyard barbecues nationwide, and consumed in mass on the Fourth of July, there is nothing more American than a good old-fashioned hot dog.

Editors Note: Benjamin Franklin delivered the following address to the Constitutional Convention on June 28,1787, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. (See p. 32.) Franklin’s reprimand came at a time when the Convention had reached a point of paralysis due to perplexity and hostility among the delegates. He reminded them that God had heard their prayers and acted on their behalf previously, so why not seek Him - their Powerful Friend - once again? Franklins words are a convicting reminder still today.
