Million dollar suggestions: Bill and Melinda Gates have made a fortune in computers and now are enjoying their middle age by being retired and funding school projects. I’m not sure that qualifies them to publish Rules for Every Day Success for Teens, especially since none of their $$$$ grants have never come to any of the schools I ever taught at.

Remember your passwords

Body
I did fairly good on memory stuff until I got to be about 80. Then I noticed it was hard for me to remember some people’s names. Names of some trees also come to mind. I have an ancient Box Elder tree in my back yard but alas, someone asked me one day what kind of tree it was and that was when I first noticed that its name had left me. Names of old friends— they came and went. But mostly I get by cause if I forget your name down at the post office, relax. It will come to me after I get home. Which brings me to another subject: Computers.

Thinking about revisiting retirement

Body
Every so often I think about retiring again. I recently celebrated the 65 reunion with a few remaining members of the glorious 1953 graduating class of Holdenville High School. I had a hard time convincing them I have already retired twice, once in 1988 and again in 2015 and yet I still seem to have at least three jobs.

Here's this week's Family Talk column....Setting expectations for children A friend of mine recently posted this conversation on Facebook: Unnamed hormonal pre-teen child: “Mom, you expect so much of me!” Me (the over-bearing mother): “What do you think I expect?” Child: “You want me to wake up in a good mood, you expect me to clean up after myself, and you think I should always be nice to my siblings!” Me: ”...Sheesh.

Back when he was playing racquetball on a regular basis, while competing in a heated game he had run full speed into the concrete sidewall with his shoulder.

Comments to: andybowman839@gmail.com Coffeetimecolumn.com We went for our daily walk together that evening, just like always. As we passed a neighbor’s home a few houses down from us, Renie remarked, “Hey, look, they are evidently redoing the flower bed there on the right side of the house.” To which Andy grunted a disinterested, “Why?…where?” Which prompted a rolling of the eyes from said wife, who then pointed and said, “Right THERE – can’t you tell?” Husband’s response was to look in the general direction she pointed and shrug, “Huh, didn’t notice.” Now, this has been going on for many years.

He came across a small half-frozen poisonous snake lying beside the pavement. Calling out in a weak voice the reptile asked for help, “Please sir, I am almost frozen to death.

Dayna and I want to thank the many of you that have called or come by to congratulate us on our purchase of the Holdenville News. Holdenville has been home to the Robinson family for six generations and we love this town. There are so many good things happening still today here in our hometown and we want to share them with you, not only today, but in the many issues to come. Today we will focus on city government, in future issues we will focus on Hughes County government, which is doing some wonderful things as well, and also focus on our Holdenville churches which are the backbone of this community.
