Service Saturday for Dale Franklin Cherry

Dale Franklin Cherry, 86, of Madill, Oklahoma passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at his home in Madill. He was born on May 23, 1937, in Yeager, Oklahoma to the late Clarence Cherry and Nellie Rogers Cherry. Dale was raised in Hughes County and graduated from Moss High School in 1956. After high school he joined the United States Air Force where he served for 2 ½ years in Japan. Dale married Saundra Sue Summy on April 17, 1959, in Holdenville. He worked for Boeing Corporation for 32 years before retiring in 1992 when he moved to Kingston. Dale later moved to Madill in 2000 where he lived the rest of his life. He was a member of the Madill First Baptist Church, and he enjoyed raising cattle, fishing, hunting, and building fences with the Hartin brothers.

Dale is survived by his wife: Saundra Sue Cherry, Madill, Oklahoma. Children: Kirk A. Cherry and wife Cathi, Jacksonville, Arkansas; Gina M. Cherry and husband Robert Dillman, Derby, Kansas. Grandchildren: Amelia Cherry, Chelsea Martin, Adrianna Wilson, Kade Divine. Four greatgrandchil-dren. Brother: Randal Cherry and wifeRosaLee, Belton, Missouri. Sister: Dorothy Hughes, Wetumka, Oklahoma. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ralph Cherry and Lyman Cherry.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 21 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Watts Funeral Home in Madill, OK. Graveside service will be 11:00 am on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Holdenville Cemetery, Holdenville, Oklahoma. Jerry Summy will officiate the service.
