A graveside service for Lon Nelson is set for May 6, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Holdenville, Oklahoma Cemetery. Lon Victor Nelson, son of Floyd V. Nelson and Pauline D. Nelson, passed away on July 26, 2022 at the age of 86 in a hospice facility near his home in Rancho Mirage, CA.

The 14th annual Native American Convocation will take place on Sunday April 30, 2023 at the Holdenville High School auditorium from 6 pm - 7 pm with a reception to follow. We will be celebrating the accomplishments of the graduating class of 2023. This year there are thirteen Mvskoke Creek Nation members, six Seminole Nation members, three Choctaw Nation members, two Cherokee Nation members and one Chickasaw Nation member graduating. Everyone is invited to attend.

Molsie Palmer, 96, of Wewoka, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023. Funeral service was held on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 2:00, in the Chapel of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home in Wewoka, with Reverend Frank Moppin officiating. Burial was at the Palmer family cemetery south of Sasakwa.

Leota Delphia (Carter) Rogers, 89, a long-time resident of Yeager, Oklahoma passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Leota was born on February 15, 1934, in Wetumka, Oklahoma, to Reo and Faye (Hatcher) Carter. Leota married the love of her life, Ralph Steven Rogers. He preceded her in death in January, 1978. She loved to garden and visit with her family. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
