Service held for Beaver Ward
Beaver Ward, age 75 of Shawnee, OK, passed away at his home surrounded by family Sunday, August 23, 2020. He was born June 24, 1945 in Holdenville, OK to the late Leroy Ward and Cindy McGeeley Long. He was raised by his grandfather Timmy McGeeley, uncle Louis McGeeley and aunt Ida McGeeley.
He was a graduate of Holdenville high school and was a self-employed welder and construction worker. On June 19, 1985 he married Sarah Leitka. She preceded him in death June 5, 2016.
Beaver was a member of Salt Creek Methodist Church of Holdenville. His hobbies were spending time with family, fishing, mowing, playing the guitar, any outdoor activities. He was known for his jokes telling and never meeting a stranger.
Preceding Beaver in death are his parents, wife, son Leroy Travis Burns and brother Robert McGeeley, niece Ida Sue Taylor
Survivors include children Kimberly Vermillion and husband Leonard of Shawnee, OK, Robin Perry and husband Chris of Seminole, OK, Regina Ward of Shawnee, OK, Maria Frye of Kansas, Nickolas Nadeau of Seminole, OK; eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Louis McGeeley of Tulsa, OK, Wayne McGeeley of Holdenville, OK; sisters, Idalene Taylor of Holdenville, OK, Jennie McGeeley of Holdenville, OK, Collene Larney of Oklahoma City; best friends Frank and Leonard Phillips and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Leonard Vermillion, Chris Perry, Randall Campbell, Robert Campbell, Justin Vermillion and Frank Phillips.
Honorary pallbearers were Rodney Campbell, Tom Williams, Kalib Shaw, Kaisyn Shaw, Jimmy Taylor, Doug Scott and Mike McGirt.
His body was taken to Salt Creek Methodist Church at 4:00 PM Thursday, August 27, 2020 for a 7:00 PM Wake service.
Funeral service was held at 10:00 AM Friday, August 28, 2020 at Salt Creek Methodist Church with Pastor Junior Mc Geeley officiating and Pastor Paul Fixico assisting, burial followed at McGeeley Family Cemetery, Wewoka, OK.
