Michael Leonard Flanders

Michael Leonard Flanders passed away Monday, January 30, 2023 at his home in Sasakwa, Oklahoma surrounded with family and the life he loved.

Michael was born December 21, 1946 in Hayden, Colorado to Leonard Flanders and Rosemarie (Vassek) Flanders. Michael graduated from Hayden High School in Colorado. Michael married Vickie Lewis on March 21, 1977 in Leadville, Colorado.

He served our country in the U.S. Air Force for six years. He was the American Legion Post Commander in Colorado. Michael and Vickie moved to God’s County, Sasakwa, Oklahoma in 2019 to continue the life he loved in the country and his cattle. He enjoyed ranching, cattle, fishing, hunting, horses, and team roping. Michael loved spending time with his family, and grandkids.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents, and daughter Bianca Flanders.

He is survived by his wife Vickie Flanders of the home; children Michael Flanders, Jr., of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Amanda Boswell of Craig, Colorado, and Wyatt Flanders of Hayden, Colorado; six grandchildren, Austin Flanders, Cody Boswell, Ethan Bowell, Shaylee Demean, Morgan Flanders, and Talon Carslay; two great-grandchildren, Arya Carslay and Rune Carslay; brother Jim Flanders and wife Jan of Tennessee; and sister Mary Beth Stephans of Wyoming.

Graveside memorial was 2:00 P.M., Monday, February 6, at Lone Dove Cemetery in Sasakwa, Oklahoma with Pastor Tommy Azlin officiating.
