Gena Sue Street

Genna Sue Street passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at St Francis Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 86.

Sue was born November 28, 1938 in Sunrise, Oklahoma to Euland Elliott Griffin and Nora Marie (Yarbrough) Griffin. Sue graduated from Pharoah High School in the Class of 1956. She went on to receive her Master’s degrees in Education and School Counseling from East Central University and was a Licensed Professional Counselor for many years.

Sue married Wilbur Keith Street on March 27, 1959. She was a long time member of the East Main Church of Christ. She was a school teacher and counselor for Weleetka Public School System for 27 years.

Sue enjoyed talking to people, teaching children, shopping, and mission work in Ukraine and Mexico. She loved her church family, the Sooners, OKC Thunder, and especially loved taking care of and being with her family.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Bennie Griffin and Danny Griffin; sister Anne Sisemore; and great granddaughter Jordan Kendall.

She is survived by her children, Vicki Shepherd and husband Jim of Holdenville, Steve Street and wife Sherl of Vinita, Brian Street and wife Terra of Tulsa, and Kristi Street of Holdenville; eleven grandchildren; eight greatg randchildren; brothers Johnny Griffin and wife Karren of Pharoah, and Larry Griffin and wife Toni of Bixby. Sue is survived by numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 24th, at East Main Church of Christ in Holdenville with Kent Dowell officiating and song service directed by Steve Johnson. Interment followed at Weleetka Cemetery in Weleetka, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers were Steve Street, Brian Street, Scott Street, Mark Street, D.J. Street and Brandon Street. Honorary pallbearers were Rory Kendall, Jim Shepherd, Larry Griffin and Johnny Griffin.

Services were under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home, Holdenville.
