Birdie Elam

Birdie Joann Elam passed away Saturday, September 17th, 2022 at her home in Wewoka, Oklahoma at the age of 86.

Birdie was born March 21, 1936 in Ferris, Oklahoma to Henry Lloyd Votaw and Lona Irene (Jorden) Votax.

Birdie married Earnest Frances Elam August 4, 1951. She was a homemaker.

Birdie worked many years as a convenience store manager. She took care of many children when they needed her care. Birdie was a wonderful, strong woman. She would help anyone in need.

Birdie is preceded in death by her parents, husband Earnest Elam, daughter Janet Marie Chekan, son Charles Earl Elam, and 7 siblings. She is survived by her daughter Helen Jo Hodges of Wewoka, Debra Kay Ramey of Tracy, CA, 9 grandchildren, siblings Bobbie Smith of California, Ruth Miller of California, Christine Votaw of Michigan and Lola Basurto of California. Birdie is survived by numerous other relatives and friends.

Memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Faith Free Will Baptist Church with Brother Earl Scroggins officiating.

Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home, Holdenville, Oklahoma.
