Dorothy J. McCoin

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy J McCoin, 88 years old, on Monday, December 18, 2023, at 02:30, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Dorothy’s life will be celebrated in a funeral service on Friday, December 22, 2023, at 14:00, at Oakcrest Church of Christ, officiated by Myron Bruce. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, where she will be laid to rest.

Dorothy was born on March 3, 1935, in Roff, Oklahoma, to Luther Fox and Bertha Brewer, both of whom preceded her in death. On July 1, 1954, she married Tommy Dean McCoin, who passed away on May 8, 2012. Dorothy and Tommy shared a loving union, and she cherished the memories they created together.

Dorothy dedicated 23 years of her life working for the Oklahoma City Schools. She was a proud alumna of Wynnewood High School, where she excelled in basketball and softball. Dorothy’s love for sports extended to cheering on OSU football and basketball, women’s college softball, and the Oklahoma City Thunder. Her true passion, however, lay in spending quality time with her family and preparing delicious meals. She will be remembered for her kind heart and selflessness, always putting others first.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Karen Campbell and Deana Young, along with their respective husbands, Frankie and Rick, all of Oklahoma City. She leaves behind a legacy in her three grandchildren, Eric Young, Max Young, and John Campbell.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by 15 siblings. She is now reunited with her loved ones in eternal peace.
