Jon Moppin was ordained into the ministry during a special service last month attended by more than 85 people. Moppin, a 2002 graduate of Holdenville High School, now pastors Many Springs Baptist Church with his wife, Amanda.

HHS CAMPUS CHATTER BY Barbara Doyle The suspense is broken and here it is! The big six cheerleaders have been chosen at last. They include Linda Hollis, Pat Holliday and Mary Ellen Ewing, top row, Carole McLarty, Pat Jones and LaVerne Mayfield, bottom row. Mrs. Jim Hamilton will sponsor the pep club and Patsy Bartlett will head the group as president. Other officers are Linda Renfrow, vice president, Phyllis McLean, secretary. The “Wolverettes” decided on gold v-neck sweaters and navy blue skirts as their uniforms for this year.

Boys will always have professional athletes and musicians to look up to, but as the New York Times’s Claire Cain Miller correctly notes, it is the adults that children “personally know” and see on a daily basis who have the most positive effect on children.
