Brush pick-up begins

The annual Fall brush and limbs pickup begins this week in section one, which includes the area bordered by Highway 48 (Main Street/Broadway of America) on the east side, Oakridge Road on the south side, Spaulding Road on the west side and of Highway 270 on the north side. The City of Holdenville will pick up all brush and tree limbs that are stacked on the curb between the street and the sidewalk (or where a sidewalk would run if there isn’t one). They will NOT pick up limbs and brush from the alleys. They also ask that you do NOT include bagged leaves.

Good morning to you. I sure have enjoyed our weather this week. Let’s hope the temperatures will stay like this for several weeks. For our Bible reading this week, let’s look at I Thessalonians 5:16-17. It tells us: “REJOICE EVER- MORE - PRAY WITH- OUT CEASING” The Bible does not tell us to rejoice in our circumstances; it tells us to rejoice in the LORD in the midst of our circumstances. We can turn every circumstance into prayer but remember the key to prayer is drawing closer to GOD who can help us with our situations.

Holdenville drops first district contest

The Holdenville Wolverines traveled to Moore last Friday to face off with the Community Christian Royals. The Royals looked like a college team the first half and played like an average high school squad the second half. Or, maybe the Wolverines played like a less than average high school squad the first half and a better than average team after the intermission.
Holdenville quarterback # 2 , Matt Cox, hands the ball to Wolverine running back # 6 Devon Tiger, while # 4, Christian Zambrano, blocks a Community Christian defender. Holdenville will host the Lexington Bulldogs this Friday for their second district game of the season.

Good morning to you. Isn’t this season great? I wish it would stay fall for about two months. God sure created some pretty scenery for us to enjoy. Did you ever wonder where the expression “the signs of the times,” came from? It came from Jesus. And His warning to the religious leaders of His day is just as relevant today as it was back then. The future is unfolding all around us. The question is, are we wise enough and discerning enough to see the signs of the times? If sailors and farmers adjusted their plans based on the weather, how much more should we incorporate the signs of the times into our lives? The religious leaders weren’t the only ones that asked Jesus for a sign. The disciples asked Jesus what sign they should look for indicating His return and the end of the age. His answer contained many signs and clues but today let’s focus on the sign of the days of Noah.
