INA REAMS HONORED ON 90th BIRTHDAY

Body
INA REAMS is one of the most beloved ladies in our community. She was recently honored on her 90th Birthday. As you can tell by looking at her, she looks much younger than her age and is as beautiful today as she has always been. She is also one of the most respected admired Christians this community has ever known. She is pictured above with her daughter, Pam Stewart (left) and her sister, Linda Skinner (right).

Thief Narrowly Escapes after Robbing Hughes County Assessor

Body
Thieves were out in full force in the Moore Country Club area of Holdenville Sunday night. A white male has been caught on camera breaking into a car belonging to Hughes County Assessor, Amber Jones. Jones’ husband, Michael, Holdenville Water Superintendent, pursued the thief on foot down the 300 block of Butts street, around the Catholic Church where the thief struck him with the blunt end of an ax. Jones continued to pursue the suspect through the First National Bank drive through and onto the property of Bill and Dayna Robinson. It was then that the unknown male turned and fired two shots at Jones before jumping into a white SUV with the license plate number 27848. Michael and Amber pursued the vehicle before losing it just past Eastern Hills Road. If you have any information that might help lead to the arrest of this suspect, please call the Hughes County Sheriff’s Office at 405-379-2203.

Life Is a Journey – Walk in a Manner Worthy of the Lord

Body
Occasionally, I find myself doing home repair projects around my property. I have done projects from plumbing repair in our laundry room to building a fence in the backyard. I’ve noticed a trend in my level of enjoyment when working on such projects. Tasks that are lengthy in time because they require more attention to detail, I don’t enjoy. Projects I can complete in short order because they don’t require as much attention to detail, I tend to enjoy more.

Years ago, a study showed that people who watch too much television had a skewed view of how many friends in life they have. Something about watching TV made people mistakenly believe they had more real-life friends than they actually did.

Holdenville Firefighters Fight Multiple Fires in Record Hot Temperatures

Body
Fires raged in and around Holdenville last week as the Holdenville Fire Department responded to calls in temperatures over 100º over several days. The first of two structure fires was set on the 1100 block of South Oak on July 17. Firefighters fought high flames in some of the hottest temperatures of the year. The very next day, the house next door to the one which had just burned down the night before, was also set ablaze. Firefighters returned to the same block to fight yet another house fire at the abandoned house. Both structures are believed to have been set on fire by someone, but there are no suspects at this time. No sooner than the firefighters extinguished the second house fire, they were called to a grass fire, leaving one scene and heading directly to another. In only one week, Holdenville Fire Department responded to nine grass fires, two structure fires, and a car wreck. All of this in record high temperatures. We are thankful for these men and women who respond to these dangerous situations at a moment’s notice.
