THINGS AREN’T ALWAYS WHAT THEY SEEM This little ditty was actually a winner in the OPA Column Sweepstakes last year and several people have mentioned it to me lately. So I’m going to run it by you one more time. This IS funny! On the outskirts of a small town, there was a big old pecan tree just inside the cemetery fence.

An added feature to the HHS band is organization of a new Fife Bottle and Jug band. This band was organized to present special programs and also as a form of amusement for the members. The instruments consist of two fifes, or toy clarinets, three sets of bottles, filled with specified amounts of water to give certain tone quality, and a set of jugs to give the effect of a tuba. This group is accompanied by a piano.

Mayor’s controversial appointments fail

Body
Only three meetings into the new administration and new Mayor Ron Thetford asked the Holdenville City Council to consider replacing the entire existing airport board. No names were listed on the agenda, only to “discuss and possibly approve a new airport board”. Four names were recommended at last Tuesday’s meeting by council members including well known, respected pilot and retired Highway Patrolman Jay Thompson as well as retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel and ODOT Construction Engineer Bill Wilkinson. The two names brought to the table by Mayor Thetford proved to be very controversial considering their history with the airport. Mr. Thetford recommended both James Welch and Phillip Eckles sit on the new Airport Board.
This is one of the many problems uncovered at the airport.

Endeavor Games I’ve officiated a lot of track meets in my time, but the UCO Endeavor Games are the most unique and rewarding! The mission statement for the games says it all! The Endeavor games exists to create equitable access to sport competition for individuals with physical disabilities. The competition is different from the Special Olympics in that every event is ran off with the same rules as the Olympics.
