Wolverines Head to Lindsay for District

Body
If you’re a Wolverine Basketball addict, you didn’t get your basketball fix this past week but there’s hope the teams will head to Lindsay on Friday. The Wolverines were going to travel to Henryetta last Tuesday and the schedule posted a final home game with Chandler coming to town on Friday. There was even talk of a make-up game with Konawa on Monday but none of those games were played. The travel problems and an eligibility issue on behalf of one of the opponents kept the Wolverines off the basketball court.
Holdenville big man, Layton Richmond, has become a rebounding force inside. Layton and his teammates will travel to Lindsay on Friday to challenge the Leopards for the district championship.

Around Town

My baby sister, Paula Dunlap, and I have many things in common, the most notable of which is her daughter, Jessica Dunlap, and Jessica’s 11-year-old manchild, Preston. As the oldest sibling, I have always been a little bossy; as the baby of the family, her gorgeous red hair, brown eyes, kind and gentle nature and a giving heart among many other attributes, have always made her special.

A special thank you to Claudia Olivo for stopping by and helping me put up my new flag. I asked her about her mom Alice and she told me she was doing great. The Olivo family is very special to us and are life-long friends. Alice’s husband Snooks and my dad roughnecked together for many years and always had some great stories to share . . . Seven year old Grandson Augie told Dane that he was supposed to dress up like an old man for school Friday. He then told Dane he wanted to dress like I do . . . That reminded me of Owen Wilkes who was getting his four-year-old grandson out of his car seat when he gazed into my his eyes and delivered this bit of wisdom: Papa, you’re old. But at least you’re not dead yet.” Readers Digest
