Hughes County RWD 1 Receives Grant

OKLAHOMA CITY –The Hughes County Rural Water District No. 1 (District) received approval for $620,000 in funding Tuesday from the Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB) to improve the District’s water infrastructure. Construction of upgrades and improvements to the water system will be financed by the Oklahoma American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant program.

WEWOKA MAN SENTENCED

MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Matthew Kyle Pinson, age 37, of Wewoka, Oklahoma, was sentenced to 51 months in prison for one count of Involuntary Manslaughter, and 51 months in prison for one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, to be served concurrently. Pinson was also sentenced to 57 months in prison for one count of Assault resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, to be served consecutive to the other terms of imprisonment.

At 96 Bob Hogan has been around and done a little bit of everything. Most locals know Bob from his mini years of managing sharps department store in Checotah but before then Bob lived in Holdenville and was the scoutmaster of a local Boy Scout troop in the 1950s.

Wolverines Impressive at Camp The Holdenville Wolverine Football fans who traveled to the Atoka summer camp on Tuesday had an opportunity to get a peek at the 2024 Wolverines and, they liked what they saw. Blue roses are very rare I am the oldest of six siblings and usually have as many jobs as I do retirements. My youngest sister Paula Dunlap is the other teacher in our gang and when she retired as Director of Special Services at Harrah, she has stayed retired.
