Wolverines Win!!!!

Body
It’s been a while since Holdenville won a game on the field. (Wynnewood couldn’t field a team last week so as far as most folks are concerned that contest will count as a forfeit.) it’s been almost two years since the Wolverines actually beat another team on the field. Holdenville lost 15 games in a row before walloping the North Rock Creek Panthers 40-0.

Remembering C.A. Sims Grocery

Body
My Dad and Mom (C.A. {Charlie} and Mattie Sims) ran a grocery store in Holdenville from the early 1930s to the mid 1960s. Before that they lived in Yeager during the 1920s. My three older brothers, Jimmy, Leo and Bill, were all born in Yeager while I was born in Holdenville. I was in my teen years before I found out that Jimmy’s name was really Charles Douglas. Apparently an old man in Yeager started calling him Jimmy and that stuck with him his whole life.

Comments to: andybowman839@gmail.com Coffeetimecolumn.com We went for our daily walk together that evening, just like always. As we passed a neighbor’s home a few houses down from us, Renie remarked, “Hey, look, they are evidently redoing the flower bed there on the right side of the house.” To which Andy grunted a disinterested, “Why?…where?” Which prompted a rolling of the eyes from said wife, who then pointed and said, “Right THERE – can’t you tell?” Husband’s response was to look in the general direction she pointed and shrug, “Huh, didn’t notice.” Now, this has been going on for many years.
