Mo and Mary Celebrate 70th Anniversary

Elmo (Moe) and Mary Collins met on a bus leaving McAlester, fell in love, and were married on February 9, 1951 in Hartshorne, Oklahoma. Moe was a radioman in the U.S. Navy. Mary would join him in Groton, Connecticut where he was stationed. That began their life together in love.

Brush and Limb Pickup

City of Holdenville Street Commissioner Jim Thetford reminds residents that the annual Citywide brush and limb pickup will begin on March 1. He encourages everyone to spend time during the next couple of weeks pruning trees and shrubs in preparation for spring, as well as clearing away dead limbs and branches that have fallen during the winter.

Airport Projects Still Alive

Holdenville City Council member Jeanna Gordon, whose responsibilities include serving on the Airport Committee, presented a plan to the rest of the Council showing how they could save money renovating the airport terminal building using City workers instead of hiring contractors. Each step included a cost estimate. The City received a $20,000 grant for improvements to the building through the CARES Act.

TIBERIUS CAPTURED

There was a sigh of relieve in Holdenville and across Hughes and Seminole Counties when the Hughes County Sheriff’s Department announced on social media Wednesday evening that Tiberius Dodson had been taken into custody at a residence north of Holdenville after a brief, losing scuffle with a K-9 Officer.
CAPTURED - A manhunt for Tiberius Dodson ended Wednesday evening after he was taken into custody at a residence north of Holdenville. Dodson had two active warrants for failure to appear and burglary in the second degree. He was also a suspect in a string of break-ins and burglaries in the Holdenville/Wewoka area.
