The Holdenville City Council approved a wage increase for the Holdenville Fire Department employees during the April 6 City Council meeting. This was in response to the most recent request from Fire Chief Shelton Foster during the March 2 meeting. At that time the Fire Department Committee members agreed to discuss this increase during their March 10 meeting.

Thank you Holdenville for allowing me to serve as your city councilman. It has been an honor and I will never forget your kindness.

It has been a privilege to serve on the city council and many great things have happened in the past two years under the leadership of Mayor Massad. A special thank you to all my friends who supported me.

This was my first political race and I want to thank the many of you who supported me. I made many new friends and had the opportunity to visit with many longtime friends that I have not seen in a long time. In whatever capacity I serve, I will be working for the betterment of Holdenville.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Justin Moon, with First National Bank & Trust Co in Holdenville, recently completed the Oklahoma Bankers Association Commercial Lending School in Oklahoma City. Moon was among 34 graduates of the school, which was held Feb.

The Holdenville Lions Club will once again be sponsoring their annual fund-raising steak sandwich cookout during lunchtime on Friday, April 23 after being forced to cancel last year. The meal will include a steak sandwich, chips, and beverage for just $8 and can be purchased in the parking lot of Sherry Real Estate at the corner of Main and Hinckley. The funds they raise will help the Lions Club continue to support many worthy causes in the community. This included scholarships, eyeglass donations, the Meadows of Hope foster care program, as well as donations to the Toys for Tots program and more.

A Seminole man was shot twice late Tuesday night and the suspected shooter has been booked into the county jail on two felony charges. John Reese Blackshire, 29, was arrested at his Holdenville residence in connection with the shooting of Ben Walls and faces charges of shooting with intent to skill and first-degree burglary.

A Seminole man was kidnapped, beaten, robbed and left naked on a rural road near Varnum High School Tuesday afternoon, leading to the arrest of three suspects. Quintrez Edwards, 26, was arrested on charges of robbery/attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping and criminal probable cause warrants.
