Summer Reading Program features “Tails and Tales

Keeping in step with this year’s Summer Reading Program theme of “Tails and Tales,” Grace M. Pickens Library hosted a special “Alpaca Madness” event at the Stroup Park Pavilion on Wednesday, June 16. The next Summer Reading event will again be held at the Stroup Park Pavilion this coming Wednesday, June 23, beginning at 3:00 p.m. with Holdenville veterinarian Dr. Rebekah Hartfield.
ALPACA MADNESS - Students that attended the June 16 Summer Reading Program on Wednesday had the opportunity to pet a trio of sweet and gentle Alpacas. This Wednesday, June 23, students will have the opportunity to visit with veterinarian and children’s book author Dr. Rebekah Hartfield. Rowdy the dog, who is featured in one of her books, will be joining the fun.

Holdenville First Baptist Church will be going to camp on June 28 through July 2 for grades 7th to high school graduates. All 7 thru HS grads are welcome to go. Registration forms will be available to First Baptist Church at 324 N. Broadway. The office is open Monday thru Thursday from 8 am—4 pm. Registration must be turned into Student Pastor David Gonzalez II or the church office. In the past we have had Arkansas Day, Peanut Festival, Catfish Festival, Hog Wild Days, and Fall Festival. Could a Marijuana Festival be in Holdenville’s future? It is big business in Hughes County and growing quickly.

Mayor Announces Holdenville Receives $100,000 Water System Funding from OWRB

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Holdenville Public Works Authority (Authority) received approval for $100,000 in funding Tuesday from the Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB) to improve the Authority’s water infrastructure. Construction of upgrades and improvements to the water system will be financed by the Oklahoma Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) where the full amount will be in the form of loan forgiveness.
