Orville Reid
Orville Reid, of Holdenville, Oklahoma, passed away on February 20, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, love, and deep devotion to the people around him. From his early years in Holdenville to his many years of leadership and service in the community, Orville was a man whose presence made others feel supported, encouraged, and cared for. He will be remembered for his steady character, warm spirit, and the countless ways he gave of himself to his family, his church, and his hometown.
Orville dedicated much of his life to serving others in a variety of roles, each one reflecting his strong sense of duty and commitment to the people of his community and country. He served as a law enforcement officer with the Holdenville Police Department, where he worked to protect and serve the citizens of Holdenville with integrity and professionalism. He was also a proud member of the Oklahoma Army National Guard, answering the call to serve with honor and dedication. These roles, along with his later work as a first responder within the fire service, reflected a lifetime of sacrifice by placing others before himself.
As a career firefighter, Orville built a respected career with the Holdenville Fire Department, where he became known not only for his commitment to public safety but also for his calm leadership and dependable nature. As Fire Chief of the Holdenville Fire Department, he earned the trust and admiration of those who served alongside him and the community he faithfully protected. He led with strength, humility, and a sincere desire to help others, leaving a lasting mark on the department and on the many lives he touched through his service.
His leadership extended beyond his professional life and into his faith community at the East Main Church of Christ, where he was a dedicated and valued member of the congregation. Orville loved God and sought to live out his faith through quiet example, kindness, and service to others. He was known as a leader within the church, someone others could look to for wisdom, encouragement, and steadfast faith.
While Orville’s service to his community, state, and church was significant, his greatest joy was always his family. Above all else, he treasured the life he built with his loved ones and the memories they shared together. He found happiness in everyday moments, in laughter with family, in time spent with those he loved most, and in creating a legacy of love that will continue for generations. He especially cherished hiking with his sons throughout the American Southwest, where the time spent together in the beauty of the outdoors became some of his most treasured memories. His family was the center of his heart, and the love he gave them will remain a lasting gift.
Orville will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his memory will live on in the lives he shaped, the example he set, and the love he so freely shared.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Loretta Reid; his two sons, Michael Reid and Keith Reid; his daughter-inlaw, Penny Reid; his grandchildren, Lacey Joel, Rachael Reid, Abby Reid, and Brody Reid; and his great-grandchildren, Parker Joel, Connor Joel, and Dylan Joel.
