Johnson “Jonny Hawk” Scott
Johnson Lee Scott, also known as Jonny Hawk, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2022, in Ada, Oklahoma. He was born to Lena Wolf Cully and Peter Scott on October 21, 1938 in Wewoka, Oklahoma. He was raised in Spaulding, Oklahoma by Lena (Wolf) and Peter Factor.
Johnson went to Spaulding School. Later on, he went to Sequoyah. He didn’t like Sequoyah so he built a stomp ground deep in the woods alongside his friends Tema Tiger, Leon Bell, Pat Bell, Jonas Harley, Thompson Gouge, and many more stomp dancers. In tenth grade, he ran away from Sequoyah and he went back to Vcen Hutce Tvlse.
He met Billey Louise Tiger and had 13 children. At age 22, he moved to Okmulgee and they lived in Hotel Sparks in 1961. Hotel Sparks caught fire last week and when he was told he said “that was mine and momma’s first house. LuLu learned how to walk on the railroad tracks.” He laughed about it! He graduated from Okmulgee Tech and became an artist. His paintings are worldwide. He won the National Cowboy and Western Hall of Fame, alongside his best friend, Bill Owens and many, many friends and family.
Johnson is preceded in death by his mother Lena Wolf Cully; father Peter Factor; daughters Lee Ann Scott, and Reba Jane Scott; son Terry Brennan; brothers Bunny Cully, Dave Cully, and Paul Cully; sisters, Amelia Cully, Eula Cully, and Shirley (Scott) Squire; granddaughter Darlene Stubbs; and grandson Marc Don Brennan.
He is survived by his daughters Joan (Biagio) Randazzo of Rowlett, Texas, Saundra (Speedy) Harley of Okmulgee, Gwen Scott of Shawnee, and Savina Scott Miller of Shawnee; sons Acee Scott of Shawnee, Chiefy Scott, Shawnee, David Scott of Holdenville, Gordon Scott (Kelly) of McCloud, and Larry Brennan (Retta) of Shawnee; 24 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Wake service was held Sunday, February 6 t at his residence.
Funeral service was 1:00 PM Monday, February 7, at Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, Holdenville with Rev. Frank Moppin and Chebon Kernell Jr. Interment followed at Wolf Family Cemetery, Wewoka, Oklahoma.
Church pallbearers were Blaze Randazzo, Johnson D. Scott, Jason Brennan, David Scott Jr., Warrior Chong Sang and Ronnie Gaines. Cemetery pallbearers were Acee Scott, Chiefy Scott, David Scott, Gordon Scott, Larry Brennan and Speedy Harley. Honorary pallbearers were Biagio Randazzo, Luther Factor, Bill Owens and Dozer Long.
Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home, Holdenville, Oklahoma.
