HOLDENVILLE — The Holdenville Society of Painters and Sculptors (HSPS) is continuing its mission to support local senior citizens through the arts with its ongoing Creative Journeys program. The initiative provides free monthly art classes designed to encourage creativity, learning, and social connection among seniors in Hughes County.

Officers with the Holdenville Police Department, with assistance from the Hughes County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant on Monday, March 9, 2026, at a residence located in the 100 block of West 5th Street in Holdenville as part of an investigation into a reported larceny at a local business.

HOLDENVILLE — A championship tradition has returned to Holdenville. The Holdenville powerlifting team captured the Class 2A State Championship, marking the program’s first state title since the powerhouse era of the 1990s when legendary coach Butch Rawls led the Wolverines to multiple state championships and national titles.

HOLDENVILLE — New data from a bi-weekly progress report shows the Hughes County Assessor’s Office is making significant progress in catching up on property inspections and data entry that had fallen behind in previous years.

After his arrival in Ireland, Patrick was enslaved to a cruel Irish chieftain who may have been a Druid high priest. (The Druids, pagan religious leaders in Ireland, were known for human sacrifices, magic spells, and worship of the sun, wind, and rocks, among other things.) Forced to work as a shepherd, Patrick spent long days in the fields. During the six years of his enslavement, he turned to the God he had learned about in his youth and began to pray intensely. In his autobiography, The Confession of St. Patrick, he described experiencing the overwhelming love of God, akin to how a father comforts his son.
