As the state endured a pandemic, high unemployment and an oil downturn, Gross Receipts to the Treasury show the Oklahoma economy pulled back by almost four percent during calendar year 2020, State Treasurer Randy McDaniel announced last week.

Voter turnout was light, but there was overwhelming support for a Hughes County Emergency Medical Service (HCEMS) bond issue for $950,000, with 74 percent of the voters approving. Supporters stressed that this renewal did not raise property taxes but simply maintained the current level.

The Holdenville Police Department is seeking the public’s help in solving a crime. Late Tuesday night/early Wednesday morning January 13, at approximately 4:00 a.m. several handguns were stolen from Welch’s Pawn, located at 500 West Main.

The Holdenville Board of Education approved a pay application for bond issue in the amount of $48,459.95 during their January 11 regular monthly meeting.

The Holdenville Police Department and the Hughes County Sheriff’s Department are asking for the public’s help in locating a person of interest. Law enforcement would like to visit with Randel Tiberius Dodson, 23, in connection to several recent burglaries.
