On the night of September 20, 2022 law enforcement was dispatched to the home of Bill and Miranda Freeman at 222 Warren Street when a neighbor called 911 about domestic violence in progress. In her petition to the Hughes County Court for a protective order against Bill Freeman, Miranda Freeman states: “[My] spouse found an old message on my phone and lost his s***. He went inside and pushed me around. I pushed back and he punched me in the vagina. I smacked him to get him off me and went to our outside man cave. He came out, beat on the door and windows. He then began busting the windows. He acted like he was going to go inside so I sat down with my friends. He came back out, punched the window and busted it. He put in the code to the door and forced himself in despite me leaning on it. He grabbed me by the hair and began punching me in the face repeatedly by calling me a stupid c***. I fought back as best I could. The neighbors called the cops. He went outside and was then arrested. I think he broke my nose.”

On August 13, 2022, Sharon Dilday graciously opened her home as she and Lynn Marquis were hostesses to a potluck brunch on her back patio. Sharon had decorated her porch with green plants on one end and all along the downside of her porch. There was a long table with red tablecloths with chocolate candy sprinkled down the center of it.

MARTHA’S VINEYARD, MA — This week, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis flew 50 migrants to an affluent island in Massachusetts to highlight the struggles of border states whose resources are buckling amid soaring numbers of undocumented immigrants. Progressives have labeled the action as “cruel” and “heartless,” but when California governor Gavin Newsom volunteered asylum for the migrants in his own state, they declined the offer since they had only recently escaped a collapsing communist state with-out electricity.

Montie Lucas and Donna Lipe made a trip to Iowa Sept 9th thru the 11th taking the 5 puppies they had been caring for since birth. There were also 10 little pups from Seminole on the trip. Thank you two ladies, for driving all night and saving these dogs. Nine of the 15 were adopted over the weekend! Thanks again to Stephen Davis for the RED ROCKET! For those of you who have not heard. Gabriel Sears was hired by the City council to be our Animal Control Officer. Cat Hasenberg is going to work at the Shelter with Whitney Grizzle. Cat really loves working with the animals more than just picking them up, so it is a win-win for all! Montie Lucas will be retiring in the near future and we will want to have a retirement reception in her honor. As you know she has dedicated her life to the animals at the shelter working long hours caring for the sick one and even taking them home to recuperate. We will let you know when we find out the date for the reception and would love for everyone to attend. The Spay-Ghetti and No Ball Dinner was a huge success! We want to thank all those involved. A Thank you ad was in the Holdenville News today and you can see just how many made this possible! Concrete was poured last month for a foundation for holding pens and some outdoor kennels we hope to buy in the future. Fourteen yards of concrete were finished with VOLUNTEER help from Patrick Andrews, Billy Hanks, Matt Tallant and Cam’ron Schroeder. They did an Excellent job; it is very level and totally awesome!
