BY Fran Little Now that the holiday vacation is about over college students are beginning to go back to school; housewives beginning to clear away Christmas decorations; and nearly everyone is beginning to settle down in the familiar rut. No matter when the actual date is set for school to let out the holiday season seems to start when the college crowd starts coming home.

HOLDENVILLE MAN KILLED IN CAR CRASH

One of the drivers in a two-vehicle accident that occurred in seminal County Tuesday evening was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel, according to an Oklahoma highway patrol report. The driver and one passenger in the other vehicle were transported by air service and we’re both listed in stable condition Wednesday afternoon. A second passenger was treated and released.

HOLDENVILLE CITY PURSUES CDBG GRANT FOR WASTEWATER PLANT UPGRADES

Holdenville, OK - In a recent City Council meeting, Grant Writer Millie Vance announced that it’s grant application time for Holdenville, with a focus on the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). The application period for the CDBG grant is now open and will run through May 1, presenting an opportunity for the city to secure up to $600,000 in funding. However, to be eligible, the project must still benefit 51% of low to moderate-income families, a criterion that Holdenville has consistently met in the past.
