HSPS Spring Art Show Entry Check-in April 26-28

The Holdenville Society of Painters and Sculptors (HSPS) reminds all area artists that the deadline to enter the 2021 Spring Art Show is just around the corner. Entries will be accepted Monday, April 26 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.; Tuesday and Wednesday, April 27 and 28 from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Entry forms are available at the Art Center, located at 118 N. Broadway. The Art Center is open Monday - Friday form 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Generous cash prizes will be awarded in a wide range of categories and divisions ranging from pre-k students to master artist adults. Due to COVID 19 precautions, there will be no Judge’s Luncheon and no Open House, but all art entered will remain on display through Friday, May 14. The Judge for this year’s Spring Art Show will be Carol Armstrong.

Holdenville Celebrates 1971 State Championship

Holdenville High School celebrated the 50 year reunion of the 1971 state baseball championship this past week. Over 20 of the players of that team were able to attend a celebration event that took place prior to the Wolverines’ district contest with Henryetta.

The Holdenville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire an 132 Rd. just off Highway 270 on Sunday, April 18. The call was received at 6:02 p.m. and the first arrival on the scene was at 6:08 p.m.

Fire Department Receives Wage Increase

The Holdenville City Council approved a wage increase for the Holdenville Fire Department employees during the April 6 City Council meeting. This was in response to the most recent request from Fire Chief Shelton Foster during the March 2 meeting. At that time the Fire Department Committee members agreed to discuss this increase during their March 10 meeting.
