The Holdenville Fire Department battled 3 separate fires in the early morning hours of October 30, 2022. One on the 400 block of E. 3rd, and another 800 block of S. Creek. No one was reported injured, and the homes appeared to be abandoned. Hughes County EMS was on scene at a structure fire of an abandoned residence with Holdenville Fire Department and Hughes County Sheriff’s Office. The structure on S. creek was a total loss. No firefighters or bystanders required medical aid. Evidence found by deputies leads to the conclusion of attempted copper thefts as a suspected cause of the fire, as the residence still had gas and electricity supplied.

Wolverine Sports by Tom Turner

Wolverines notch 8th win! Frankly, back in August, it was hard to take Holdenville Head Coach, David Barker, serious when he predicted an eight to nine win season! After all the Wolverines were 1-9 when the 2021 season ended and that lone win wasn’t against a top tier opponent. Coach Barker’s prediction is right on! The Wolverines have won 8 games and they’ll be going for number 9 when Lexington comes to town this Friday for senior night.
Holdenville running back # 25, Mike Piza, heads unfield for a good gain while # 20 Malachi Henderson, # 62 Donovann Gibbs, # 66 Alyc Harjo,# 18 Tris-N Tyler and a host of other Wolverines clear the way. Holdenville will host Lexington Thursday Night.
