At a recent meeting of the Holdenville Public Works Authority, it was announced that the city has secured significant funding to address long-standing issues at its wastewater treatment plant. Holdenville has been awarded a $600,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), which will be matched by another $600,000 from the city’s allocation of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. This brings the total project budget to $1.2 million.

James Ray Simmons passed away Sunday, October 6, 2024, at his home in Calvin, Oklahoma at the age of 80. James was born February 23, 1944, in Stigler, Oklahoma to Bill Simmons and Lillian Lanora (Walker) Simmons.

Mary Ella Crawford Marrs passed away Monday September 30, 2024. She was 88 years old. Mary was born in Lamar, Oklahoma on May 8th, 1936. She was raised on a farm in Lamar by her parents along with eight siblings.

Billy Jack Sawyer passed away Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 68. Billy was born January 15, 1956 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Jackie “Jack” Doyle Sawyer and Pauline Simmons.
