The Oklahoma Department of Corrections announced that the Davis Correctional Facility in Holdenville, Okla., will be renamed to honor a fallen correctional officer. Beginning October 1st, the prison will be known as the Allen Gamble Correctional Center.

Sharon Dilday and Diane Bowman hosted the Red Hat Ladies luncheon at K-Mila’s Mexican Restaurant. It is a great place for a meeting and the food is great too! There wasn’t a reading of the minutes or treasurer’s report. Diane gave a beautiful prayer blessing our meeting and the food. Dues and tip money were collected.

The Holdenville Lions Club began our 2023-2024 year on Sept. 5, 2023. The meeting was held at Wes Watkins Technology Center in Wetumka. The fish fry was first on the agenda and was a delicious way to start the year. There are many adult as well as high school student educational programs available, with many different starting dates. Wes Watkins is a gem, which is not well-known in our area that is providing training/ education for students to begin careers with good salaries, in a very reasonable amount of time.
