HISTORY OF THE EASTER BUNNY

Body
The advent of both Santa Claus as a Christmas symbol and eggs as an Easter icon can be traced to Christian roots and beliefs. The Easter bunny is a different animal altogether. No connection exists between this endearing children’s character and any element of the Christian faith. Yet for many children, the Easter bunny is a wonderful reminder of the coming of Easter.

HUGHES COUNTY RED HATS GO TO REBA’S

Body
“REBA’S”! Yes, we put on our best Red Hats and 10 ladies headed out to Atoka to Reba McEntire’s newest adventure! And what an adventure it was. We only had to stand outside for apx. 15 minutes and inside we were so busy looking at all the different things. Several bought Reba t-shirts. Cool! It wasn’t long before we were ushered into a private room with luxurious dining room chairs to sit in. The long wooden table had just been made and we were the first to use it. Reba’s niece Garrett is the manager. She is Reba’s oldest sister’s daughter. She paid us a welcoming visit and she sounds and looks a lot like Reba. What a treat! Joyce Brinlee blessed our food. Glenda Stinson gave a treasurer’s report. There were so many items on the menu that we had to try them all. Appetizers of Quail Poppers, Fried Green Tomatoes and Charcuterie Board were ordered and passed around for all to try. We ordered steaks, salmon, country fried steak and catfish. Delicious! was the comment was all that was said! Our waitress was right on the spot if we needed anything. We were well catered to. “How much fun was that! Well worth the trip!” were just some of the comments made. Glenda Stinson brought some guests with her and two of them want to join our friendly group! They were Linda Ring from Byers, OK, Traci Ring, Ada and Dell Marie Lowe. Other members attending were Diane Bowman, Linda Tyler, Cindy McDaniel, Joyce Brinlee, Barbara Tiger, Glenda Stinson and Lynn Marquis.
