Champ Florie, son of Keith and Angie Florie, grandson of the late EB and Charlesetta Florie (Holdenville) and Sam and Ginger Vernon (Bethany), RAN in the Army Ten-Miler, in Washington D.C., Sunday, October 9, 2022. The Army Ten-Miler takes place each October in Washington, D.C. to promote the Army, build esprit de corps, support Army fitness goals, and enhance community relations. There are over 35,000 runners and 900 teams from around the world. Champ has been training all summer for the Ten-Miler.

Slow walkers, fast walkers. Fitness walkers, fun walkers. All style of walkers are invited to join in our walking activities for the South Central Regional Roundup associated with the American Volkssport Association. Three walking clubs, Sunflower Sod Stompers of Topeka, Tulsa Walking Club, and Wandergruppe of Oklahoma City are joining together for a weekend of walking in different towns located in east-central Oklahoma October 14-16. Events will be located in Ada, Holdenville, McAlester, and Seminole.

HOLDENVILLE NEWS has learned that a man by the name of Joel “Skip” Mitchell, head of what appears to be a one-man company called Forum Consulting Group, LCC has come to Holdenville to conduct an audit of the City of Holdenville’s conduct and procedures in matters of city business. He is requesting copies of the minutes from all city council, public works, and Hospital Authority meetings from June 1, 2022 until present.

Wolverines Win a Thriller! In times past most of the Wolverine fans would have been long gone before the last 16 seconds of the fourth quarter! The band and cheerleaders would have stayed along with the parents and close friends of the players but everyone else would have been in their vehicles trying to escape what ever small amount of traffic that accompanied a Holdenville football game. VOTER REGISTRATION DEADLINE APPROACHES

October, 14 2022, is the last day to apply for voter registration in order to be eligible to vote in the November 8th General Election, Hughes County Election Board Secretary Brandy Davis said today. Davis said that persons who are United States Citizens, residents of Oklahoma, and at least 17 ½ years old are eligible to apply for voter registration.
