Charlie Robert Self was born on August 18, 1925, the only child of Joe Otis and Cecelia (McKeown) Self, at Dixie Lease oil camp southeast of Wewoka, Oklahoma, in what was then part of the world’s largest oil field. He passed away peacefully on January 26, 2022, in Mustang, OK at age 96.
