Wolverines Win District Championships Coach Dillion Snow’s Holdenville Wolverine Basketball Teams have won both the boys’ and girls’ district championship trophies. The girls started the evening with a dominating 67-19 win over the Little Axe Indians.
DISTRICT CHAMPS,,,,, The Holdenville Girls Basketball Team defeated the Little Axe Indians 67-19 to earn the 2025 District Championship. Team members are: Lexxi Goolsby, Darcy Shepherd, K’mari Earley, Bella Smith, Ally Inselman, Princess O’Neill. Eric Monroe, Leslie Carter, Brittany Skipworth, Mady Richmond, Dillon Snow, Makayla Blackshire, Aaron Laster, Virginia Piza, Myah Olden, Dixie Gamble, Marissa Shaffer.

What’s Next The Wolverines will travel to Jones on Thursday to face the Jones Longhorns in the first round of the regional tournament. The Longhorns have the privilege of playing on their home court because they a new modern gymnasium.
Holdenville’s Kmari Earley breaks away the Little Axe defenders on her way to score a basket in the Wolverines’ district championship 67 -19 win. The girls will travel to Jones on Thursday to begin regional tournament play.

The Holdenville High School Boy’s Basketball Team has earned the 66 Conference Championship Trophy. ( Actually …..Holdenville High School has earned the right to purchase their own trophy because the 66 Conference Members bylaws indicate if you win the championship you can buy your own trophy.) Friday’s performance would indicate that Holdenville deserves a six foot tall trophy because the Wolverines stood tall when they battled the 8th ranked Chandler Lions.
Brayden Black is the Holdenville News Scholar Athlete of the Week. Brayden is an Honor Roll Student and participates in multiple sports at Holdenville High.

WOLVERINE BOYS WHIP ATOKA AND KINGSTON The Holdenville Boys’ Basketball team earned two impressive wins this past week. The boys whipped Atoka 86-34 and Kingston 58-53.
COACH LESLIE PHILLIPS-CARTE’S 7&8 GRADE GIRL’S BASKETBALL TEAM HAS WON 12 GAMES THIS SEASON. The girls paused from their winning ways to pose for a team picture. Anyone who has ever coached will tell you that they look forward to Homecoming and they dread Homecoming. The athletes who play the game can be distracted by a variety of things! The Homecoming festivities began at 5:20 last Friday.
Virginia Piza sank a crucial free throws in the final minute of Holdenville’s 32-26 win over Prague. Holdenville will travel to Atoka on Tuesday before returning home to host Kingston on Friday.

Malachi Henderson earns All-State Honors Holdenville Running Back, Malachi Henderson has been selected to play in the Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State Game. It’s been over two decades since a Holdenville player has earned the honor of being selected to play in the annual game.
Holdenville’s Brett Bruner made this Mc-Loud defender do a strange dance step when he launched a long distance shot before the buzzer that ended a quarter, Bruner and the Wolverines will host Prague on Friday.

The weather has been an obstacle to the Holdenville Wolverine basketball schedule but they finally had an opportunity to play last Tuesday. The Okemah Panthers came to town with 5 contests under their belt since Christmas Break while every one of the Wolverine games had been cancelled because of the weather.
Holdenville’s Princess O’neal out ran this Okemah player to the basket. The Wolverines will play at Stroud on Tuesday.
