One Pharmacist’s View

When I was yet a schoolboy over at Stonewall, my night job was running the projectors at the local movie house. The Main. People sometimes would stop me and ask me about their favorite movie star. It was usually a horse. You see, every Friday night a new weekend slate of movies started. A serial, a Warner Brother’s cartoon, and a fresh class A Newsreel from Path A News. My dad was sort of a news junkie, so he bought Class A Newsreels. The latest. The others were the same just four or five days older.

Learning Happiness from the Peanuts Gang

Body
“Peanuts” is my all-time favorite comic strip. When our kids were growing up, almost every December we would watch “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” With that in mind, when I read the following, I not only was in total agreement, but it also sent me on a great trip down “memory lane.” Studies reveal that Gen Z is struggling with happiness, but there are ways to turn that around.

Thanksgiving has become the stepchild of second half of the year holidays. We so easily slide from Fourth of July into Halloween, then take a brief respite to be thankful at Thanksgiving before stepping into Christmas and New Year’s. Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, Wal-Mart, Hallmark, etc., took the red, white and blue Independence Day decorations down in July and went straight to the Christmas scenario. Sure, they had momentary bumps in the road for Halloween and Thanksgiving but in their hearts, they were getting ready for Christmas.

The Thanksgiving feast—an American tradition that dates back to the 16th century when Spanish settlers held a feast of gratitude for God’s providence as they successfully arrived in what is now Florida. Then in 1620, a large group of Puritans, who fled the religious persecution of early 17th century England, to then eventually end up on our shores. We’re all familiar with this story, as we have learned about the Pilgrims from our earliest school days.

“THANKSGIVING; A TIME TO SAVE”

Body
Everybody knows finances are tight today. Now, one can only hope against hope that by the time this column hits your hands, the sentence I just wrote is a lie. That by some miracle the everescalating balloon of inflation in our country has run into a sharp knife and rapidly became a splattered has-been on the ground. I’m hoping all of us are crowding the stores, once again stocking our pantries and keeping our credit cards smoking.

Careful naming your child My wife and I often comment we have typical names for people born in the 1950s: Jim and Diane. My wife’s parents chose her name because they liked the sound of it and gave her a middle name of a character in the Dick Tracy comic strip.

Things are not always what they seem Note how seemingly “innocent” entries can be turned against us! 1. LONGTERM PARKING Some people left their car in the longterm parking at the airport while away, and someone broke into the car.
