I spent my first two years of college in Nashville, TN, which I considered as getting my education in “The South.” But I soon learned that to discover the REAL South, one had to go deeper, like the Carolinas, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, even Virginia and its Western expansion, etc.

We received a really nice note from our dear friend and classmate Brenda Lee Griggs this past week. She has always been one of the kindest and sweetest people I have ever known. Every time we receive a call or note from her it is so encouraging and uplifting.

Enjoy Freedom and Live With Virtue Here in America, we cherish the concept of freedom and the liberty we enjoy. Among the inalienable rights with which we are endowed by our creator are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

I had a great visit with my cousin, Jerry Bean last week. He is the son of the late Dow and Inez Abernathy Bean. His grandparents owned the Bean Dairy west of Holdenville for many years.

Sunday was an incredible day. The Holdenville Church of the Nazarene celebrated their 100 Anniversary. The music, message, food and fellowship were all part of the amazing celebration. Five generations of our family have been members of this local church.

I have been associated with a variety of newspapers in one category or another for the past 70 years.

School is definitely back in session and it is like no other school year we have ever known, but some things remain the same. Namely, the humorous (often) true things that kids say and they don’t even know they are funny.
