On February 8, 2023, Arlon Cooper, age 56, of Wewoka was found guilty of Murder in the Second Degree by a Seminole County jury. He was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Oklahoma Department of Corrections for 20 years.

The Holdenville Society of Painters and Sculptors has great community events. Currently HSPS has a basket filled to the brim with drawing supplies including sets of drawing pencils, sketch pads of various sizes, erasers, colored pencils and other wonderful items that would be a great win for any beginner or other level of artist. The tickets for donation to win the basket are $1 each or 6 for $5 and are available at the Art center any weekday from 10 am to 2 pm. The Art Center is located at 118 N. Broadway Street in Holdenville, OK. All proceeds will benefit the Art center and upcoming events.
